Each year Alford Media donates event technology gear for the GRACE foundation’s charity Gala to support their important community outreach in which they provide goods and assistance to those in need. This year GRACE was introduced to Martin Audio’s latest technology, Wavefront Precision, while hosting at the Gaylord Resort & Convention Center in Dallas. This innovative PA system has already proven successful for our clients who come to Alford seeking expertise in challenging acoustical environments.
Wavefront Precision offers us a lightweight and more straightforward option that is easier and faster to deploy, but still gives us the features and sound we love from our other family of Martin speakers. Their design places external amps on the ground, allowing for a scalable resolution and reducing the amount and overall weight of the speakers being placed on truss. At GRACE, we used Martin’s WPC, SXH218 subwoofers, CDD-LIVE, and iKON amp racks, each with three iK42 amps.
Using external amps is beneficial because it saves our technicians valuable time on the install while requiring less cables and reducing overall costs. At GRACE we wanted to be sure that no matter where a guest stood inside the venue, they would be able to hear as if they were right next to the speaker.
Our technicians are able to manipulate the audio in ways that maximize audience coverage. For example, we can steer our audio towards the sections of the room with the most attendees and avoid areas that are empty. This provides a better listening experience for clients and attendees because we can mitigate some of the acoustical challenges within any given room.
GRACE Gala 2018 was a great success with our use of Wavefront Precision’s powerful and scalable audio technology. It enhanced and created an acoustical environment that reached the charitable attendees from the stage and dance floor, to the lobby bar and silent auction hall.
